High River, Alberta
Perry is a Past President of the Alberta Cowboy Poetry Association.
Perry was a working cowboy for the first half of his life before joining the Warden Service where he retired as Chief Park Warden of Banff National Park in 2000. Prior to joining the Warden Service Perry ranched with his Parents near Medicine Hat and Millarville, Alberta. He also spent many years of his youth as a rodeo cowboy. Perry’s love, respect, and knowledge of the cowboy life is captured in the writing and performing of his poetry and songs. His work strives to maintain the rich culture and tradition of the western way of life.
His compositions, whether its song or poetry, are a reflection of his experience in ranching, rodeo, and working in the pristine wilderness areas of our National Parks.
Perry was the lead singer of the band Latigo from 2000 to 2008. The band traveled extensively in the Prairie Provinces plus a tour to Canada’s East Coast in 2006 and Arizona in the spring of 2008. Latigo produced two CDs; Kansas In The Fall and The Drifter.
