Doug is able to capture his unique comedic take on everyday cowboy life through poem, art and stories. The cowboy life is the life that he still lives today.
He is a feature performer at Cowboy Gatherings across North America and has been named Manitoba Cowboy Poet of the Year. Doug’s poetry paints a picture in your mind as he weaves his tales that will make you want to saddle up, laugh or cry. What makes them special is they are all wrote from the heart … uh … and a good pen!
Doug is also a sought after artist and painter. He was commissioned to produce the official portrait of “Skoal’s Airwolf”, the three-time world champion buckin’ horse, upon its retirement. Doug is also a member of Cowboy Cartoonists International consisting of some of the top Cowboy Cartoonists in the World. Leanin’ Tree Greeting Cards is where he produces comedic cowboy-toon cards allowing his humor and art to meet.
Doug shows his art every year at the NFR in Las Vegas. He was also commissioned to do the 50th Anniversary Painting for the Manitoba Stampede. Doug has been featured in several Nationally broadcast documentaries, including a feature on the two hour CBC Calgary Stampede Sunday Finals national broadcast. He is a published poet and artist.
