Willow Creek Cowboy Gathering (15th Annual) July 10th - 12th, 2015
Review by Sue Harris and Ed Brown

The Willow Creek Gathering is now a warm memory, and we were proud to be part of a lineup that included the wonderful poet Jim Hamilton from Montana, the terrific singer/songwriter/guitarist Charlie Ewing from Claresholm, and other great poets and musicians, too many to list here, who completed a program of well-rounded entertainment.

The crowds were the best we've seen there ... the parking lot was jam-packed every day, and the seats were filled with enthusiastic and attentive listeners. For those who needed to get up and stretch their legs from time to time, there was a vendor area with many kinds of interesting western handcrafts.

This year, musicians had full 30-minute sets, which was much appreciated. It gives the musician a chance to build a cohesive show, and it gives the audience a better opportunity to get to know the musician and what he/she is about.

Speaking from the artist's point of view, we have to say that the Willow Creek Green Room is second to none! It was kept well stocked all through the day by smiling volunteers ... fresh fruit, home-baked goods (oh! those scones!), coffee, water, cheese, and other snacky things to keep our energy up.

It was also a very thoughtful decision to tuck our meal tickets right into our name badges, so that we had them handy right from the get-go. The sales table was beautifully and professionally managed all weekend by more volunteers ... what would we do without these generous people!

And of course, the after-Gathering gathering on Sunday afternoon at Cliff and Audrey Egger's place was the perfect wrap-up. A weekend full of friends old and new, stories and songs, and great food. A huge thank you to the Willow Creek committee and other volunteers for all your hard work...it was so appreciated!

Put it on your calendars for next year!
