Pincher Creek Cowboy Poetry Gathering
June 18 - 21 2009

Where do you go when your looking for good western entertainment, good food, good friends, horse training clinics and authentic working cowboys plying their trade at a ranch rodeo; the answer is the Pincher Creek Gathering on Father's Day weekend. What a great week end of non stop entertainment.

If you looked at the field full of campers, sold out evening performances and good crowds at every venue, it's not hard to tell that the Pincher Creek Gathering is alive and well. The Gathering organizers should take a well deserved bow - well done folks.

There were over sixty entertainers; some new and some old from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta, Montana, and Idaho. There are too many entertainers to acknowledge individually in this brief report but it was great to see twenty five ACPA members performing at the Gathering. Also this year the organizers put together a program called "Up'n comer Ryme'n Lyric Spotlight Contest" that produced some fine young talent. This is certainly a good idea for preserving the future of Gathering participants.

I have enjoyed the Pincher Creek Gathering for many years as both a spectator and performer and have to say that when it comes to presenting the "full meal cowboy deal" of poets, musicians, story tellers, horse trainers and ranch rodeo events, no one does it better.
