Almita 2nd Annual Cowboy Poetry

It was an amazing night at the Ponoka Legion where the turn out was more than three hundred people between both shows. We got to see a new upcoming star who performed with her grandfather and father on stage.

There were laughs and gasps at the stories that were told. I noticed that many people were tapping there feet along with the songs that brought them back to their childhood.

As a newbie on the scene, I was pleasantly surprised how such a little event could affect so many people. It wasn't a crowd of young party goers or small children dancing in the front row, it was a crowd who truly appreciated ever note, every yodel, every poem every story. Where stories of the good old days where cowboys roamed and wild horses were free.

It was an amazing event that I am proud and honored to have attended and helped organize. I truly hope that next year will prove to be bigger and better. Thank you to everyone that attended and also to all the amazing performers. All this could not have happened if it wasn't for the many sponsors who gave very generous donations and the great door prizes that so many people got to take home. A special thanks to all the volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help out, everyone from the set up crew, to ticket seller at the front door, the 50/50 sellers to the young girls at the coat check.

We at Almita want to thank you all. And our great audience that also attended, we hope to see you all next year.
